    Barreras al Cambio en la Empresa Familiar

    A series of characteristics affects the willingness of a family business to change and renew. Both change and renewal are necessary to maintain the continuity of the company in the long term in order for it to be handed down to the following generation. Approaches to the identification of barriers to change that are specific to the characteristics of family businesses are analyzed with the aim of identifying factors that potentially have the greatest impact on the decision-making and implementation of change processes. These factors include the generation at the head of the family business; the influence of interest groups, particularly the duality between the company and the family; and the greater or lesser participation of professionals from outside the family.La empresa familiar presenta una serie de características que condicionan su disposición al cambio y la renovación, que son necesarios para mantener la continuidad de la empresa en el largo plazo, para que pueda ser legada a las siguientes generaciones. Se analizan algunas aproximaciones a la identificación de las barreras al cambio que son más específicas de las características propias de la empresa familiar, para identificar los factores que pueden tener mayor incidencia en la decisión e implantación de procesos de cambio en las empresas familiares. Entre estos factores se pueden citar la generación al frente de la empresa familiar, la influencia de los grupos de interés -particularmente la dualidad entre empresa y familia-, y la mayor o menor participación de profesionales externos a la familia

    Effects of Web Experience factors on virtual retail purchase preferences

    This article examines the effects of different elements of the Web Experience (WE) on the buying behaviour of virtual consumers, specifically on the choice of the online retail vendor. The purpose of the study is to empirically test the theoretical findings as to the main parameters of the online customer experience and measure their relative importance and role as inputs in the customer’s decision-making process. The study was conducted by means of an online consumer survey in a realistic virtual shopping environment. The results of the study show that out of the five web experience components analyzed, four (the usability, trust building, marketing mix and aesthetics) have a positive and significant effect on the choice of e-vendor while the fifth one (interactivity) does not seem to positively influence the choice of an online vendor. Furthermore the study examines the effect of two behavioural variables (experience and motivation) on the choice of online -vendors. This topic could expand the scope of academic research on the issue of online marketing and at the same time provide online marketers with new insights and tools for building a commercially successful online presence

    During the last two decades the retailing industry is finding itself in a state of constant evolution and transformation. Globalization, mergers and acquisitions, and technological developments have drastically changed the retailing landscape. The explosive growth of the Internet has been one of the main catalysts in this process. The effects of the Internet have been mostly felt in retail sectors dealing mainly with intangibles or information products. But these are not likely to be limited to these sectors; increasingly retailers of physical products realize that the empowered, sophisticated, critical and well-informed consumer of today is essentially different to the consumer they have always known. The web, and particularly what is known as Social Media or Web 2.0, have given consumers much more control, information and power over the market process, posing retailers with a number of important dilemmas and challenges. This article explains what the new face of the Internet, widely referred to as Web 2.0 or Social Media, is, identifies its importance as a strategic marketing tool and proposes a number of alternative strategies for retailers. Implementing such strategies will allow retailers not only to survive, but also create competitive advantages and thrive in the new environment

    Study on the Printability through Digital Light Processing Technique of Ionic Liquids for CO2 Capture

    Here we present new 3D printable materials based on the introduction of different commercially available ionic liquids (ILs) in the starting formulations. We evaluate the influence of these additives on the printability of such formulations through light-induced 3D printing (digital light processing-DLP), investigating as well the effect of ionic liquids with polymerizable groups. The physical chemical properties of such materials are compared, focusing on the permeability towards CO2 of the different ILs present in the formulations. At last, we show the possibility of 3D printing high complexity structures, which could be the base of new high complexity filters for a more efficient CO2 capture

    Dynamic Graded Muscle Exercise in Sedentary Metabolic Syndrome Women; Effects on Cardiac Workload

    Metabolic syndrome (MetSyn) individuals presented declining sensitivity to insulin (p=.0201) as calculated by insulin sensitivity index (ISI-60) measurement. The young women categorized as MetSyn were previously found to have significantly lower (ISI-60) from healthy controls (Gomez, 2018), and had higher percent body fat (p\u3c .05), diminished HDL (p\u3c .05), and higher expenditure of Kcals (p=.04) compared to controls as measured by 7 day accelerometer. Cardiovascular modification is hypothesized to involve progressive dysfunction of the insulin mediated AKT/PKB eNOS pathway. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to identify if daily sedentary activity is associated with myocardial workload in the development of the metabolic disorder. We hypothesized metabolic syndrome individuals Rate Pressure Product (RPP) would be at elevated at rest and through various workloads of small muscle exercise. METHODS: We compared daily activity to heart function in order to identify possible myocardial workload, using Rate Pressure Product (RPP) between controls and MetSyn in women (RPP= HR×SBP). Dynamic graded handgrip and single leg kick exercises were used to measure any cardiovascular deficiency between MetSyn and controls. By taking SBP and HR for every workload, we identified differences in cardiac work. RESULTS: RPP values greater than 10,000 bpm/mmHg indicated an increased risk for heart disease, where metabolic syndrome group was found to have higher RPP (p=.02) indicating that their hearts work harder. We also identified that individuals with higher RPP have had more sedentary breaks as measured by accelerometer R=.396, p=.0227, n=33. For Handgrip workloads there was a significant increase of RPP between Unloaded, 1Kg, 2Kg (pCONCLUSION:Metsyn individuals are experiencing higher myocardial workloads. We predict that sedentary lifestyles along with developing metabolic deficiency are responsible for the observed increased myocardial workload in MetSyn women
